After losing to Portugal by 75-70, on Wednesday, the Slovaks still balanced the game in the first period (19-19), but, in the second, the Angolans improved in defense and managed a 26-10 partial, reaching the break winning by 45-29.
The African team did not lose control of the match, winning the third period (24-19) and the fourth (17-11), for a final victory by 27 points, after leading by 32.
The Angolans made the difference, especially in the fight for the boards, with 55 rebounds (including 21 offensive), against only 29 of the Slovaks (six), and in 'shooting' from the field, with 46 percent (35 in 75) against 32 percent (18 in 56) of the European team.
Teotónio Pó, with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Leandro Conceição, with 13 points, were the best of Angola, while Vladimir Brodziansky led the Slovaks, with 11 points.
On Friday and Saturday, at 18h30, the Angolans will test Portugal, which is preparing to participate in Group C of the second round of pre-qualification for the 2023 World Cup, where it will face Sweden and Luxembourg, in Matosinhos, from 12 to 18 August.
After this tournament, Portugal plays away with Switzerland on July 29 and 30, then back to Matosinhos, where they play Cape Verde (August 5) and the Swiss (6), before the clashes with the Scandinavians (12 and 16) and the Luxemburgers (13 and 17).
To reach a place in the European qualifying round, joining the 24 teams already qualified, Portugal needs to finish in one of the first two places in the group.
The 2023 Basketball World Cup will take place in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines, from September 1 to 17.
