Angola will attend the World Congress of Skating of other disciplines, which will take place on August 3 in Benin. José Gamboa, vice president for other disciplines of the Angolan Skating Federation (FAP), will be responsible for representing the country at the event.

At the meeting, which will be attended by over 30 African countries, José Gamboa intends to present the main concerns of the country. The list is composed by the lack of activities either at the level of the zone committee or the roller field hockey commission.

"We have seen that there has been no activity either at the level of the zone committee or the roller field hockey committee and these are our main concerns," began José Gamboa, speaking to Radio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

The responsible informed that Angola will try to "join Egypt, which is also unhappy" to draw "a joint plan for the next mandate, both the committee of our zone and the roller field hockey committee to come out of this lethargy".

Speaking about the importance of the congress, José Gamboa indicated that almost all the countries of the African continent that practice this sport will be present.

He also explained that roller skating has been bringing together "a number of disciplines" and that in Angola some of them "are already practicing", being in "process of organization".

"The roller field hockey is developing in other places. For example, Benin also already has roller field hockey, Cameroon is developing roller field hockey and Angola is developing it," he said, adding that the country will take the opportunity to establish relations and thus "begin to take the first steps" for Angola's experience to be shared.

"We want to see if we can get our coaches and referees to provide training," he said.

In parallel with the congress, the African Inline Skating and Speed Skating Championships will take place between August 4 and 8. About the event, José Gamboa said that he will follow the competition in order to gain experience.

"Angola does not participate [in the championship] but we will observe the fourth African speed skating championship and the second African inline freestyle championship, we will enjoy the experience and take away something profitable," he stressed.
