The factory will be built within 15 months, announced César Rasgado, chief executive of the company Grandes Moagens de Angola (GMA).
Speaking at the end of the signing of an addendum with the Port of Lobito, Rasgado said that the new factory unit would be capable of producing 600 tons of flour per day. However, he clarified that in an initial phase the factory will produce 550 tons of flour and will also employ 130 people.
César Rasgado said, cited by Angop, that the realization of this project is the result of efforts undertaken by both parties, following up on a contract signed in 2017, which was affected by negotiations and adjustments regarding the concession area.
"This agreement will allow Grandes Moagens de Angola to manufacture wheat flour with all the valences and benefits for national production and the improvement of the business environment," he considered.
Celso Rosas, president of the port's board of directors, took the opportunity to applaud the initiative and stress that the project will generate new job opportunities for the municipality.
Also cited by Angop, the official considered that the Port of Lobito plays an important role in the diversification of the economy and, for this reason, has been making efforts to become more profitable.
He also appealed to the managers of GMA, to make their employees aware not to engage in "indecent acts and illicit attitudes".
