"At least two or three more wheat flour mills will appear during the course of this year, so we will have, besides the quantity already produced today, a surplus. It is not at all acceptable that we continue to import wheat flour in large quantities," said César Rasgado, speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
There are "currently three industries with installed capacity to produce over 700,000 tons of wheat flour per year," he said, adding that, for now, there is no lack of raw material to produce wheat flour.
The director of Grande Moagens de Angola said that any of the three industries were "fully operational," and that they did not have any situation linked to the "lack of raw material" and were "in a position to supply the market.
About the rupture of wheat flour on the market, the official said he did not understand why that situation was occurring as the Ministry of Industry and Trade "estimates annual consumption at 600,000 tons," which represents a "surplus of 100,000" tons.
