Covid-19: Angola with three more deaths and 198 new cases

Angola has recorded three more deaths due to covid-19, 198 new cases, mostly in the provinces of Cunene and Lunda Norte, and 61 recovered patients, in the last 24 hours, the Health authorities announced this Thursday.

The national directorate of public health, in its daily epidemiological bulletin, reports that the three deaths were reported in the provinces of Lunda Norte, Namibe and Luanda.

The new cases were registered in the provinces of Cunene (55), Lunda Norte (48), Luanda (29), Moxico (14), Huambo (13), Kwanza Sul (9), Namibe (9), Zaire (7), Lunda Sul (5), Benguela (4), Cabinda (3) and two cases in the province of Bié.

According to the epidemiological bulletin, in this period, laboratories processed 2373 samples by RT-PCR with the cumulative pointing to 807,529 processed samples with a positivity rate of 5.3 percent.

Angola now totals 42,486 positive cases, 36,025 recovered, 1003 deaths and 5458 active cases, two of which are critical, 14 severe, 91 moderate, 36 mild and the rest asymptomatic.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 4,190,383 deaths worldwide, among more than 195.8 million cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the UK, India, South Africa, Brazil and Peru.
