Covid-19: Second dose of Russian vaccine begins next week

The first doses of the second component of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will arrive in the country as of next week, when this second dose will start to be administered in Angola.

With the arrival of these doses, citizens will begin to be called to be vaccinated. According to Helga Freitas, national director of public health, people will be called, starting next week, according to the vaccination deadlines, in order to be immunized with the second dose.

Speaking to Televisão Pública de Angola and quoted by Jornal de Angola, she explained that the production of the second component of the Russian vaccine is "extremely" difficult and that "this situation is not only happening" in Angola, "but also in other states that administered Sputnik V".

Since the beginning of the vaccination process, on March 2, about 1,586,566 people have been vaccinated against covid-19, according to the most recent balance of health authorities.
