Economic and Social Council suggests creation of unemployment benefit

The Economic and Social Council (CES) suggested the creation of an unemployment benefit for people who have already contributed to Social Security for at least one year and then become unemployed. The measure, which is part of a set of proposals drawn up by the council, will soon be sent to the President of the Republic.

:

The catalog of proposals intends to ease the difficulties of the population, granting them purchasing power and improvements in their financial conditions and quality of life.

In order to ensure that the process is successful and that the resources reach the right destination, a biometric control will be made using a database of the National Institute of Social Security and Identification of the Ministry of Youth in employment centers, writes Angop.

In the proposal, the ESC also suggests that young students benefit from this subsidy. Without specifying the academic degree of the students that may benefit from the support, the council only indicates that these will be examined through a control base and through a commitment binding the Ministry of Education and the educational institutions.

Besides the employment subsidy proposal, the council also suggests that a deduction be made from the Social Contribution Tax of companies that participate in the admission of young people for their first job as well as in the offer of paid professional internships.

This measure, according to Angop, aims to stimulate the process of job creation in the country.

Among the proposals is also the "quantification of the need to create new production units or companies and the respective sectors and implementation regions to respond to a certain number of new jobs.

According to Angop, the CES document is made up of over a hundred proposals, summarized in eight themes, which aim to create economic stability and contribute to Angola's development.

The proposals were presented by the Economic and Social Council in a meeting with the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior. Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the executive secretary of the Economic and Social Council, Edmundo Miguel, said that "it was an excellent meeting", believing that the set of proposals in various areas will "certainly" contribute to the improvement of the whole governmental action that has been carried out.
