BPC suffers cyber attack

Banco de Poupança e Crédito (BPC), Angola's largest state-owned bank, suffered a cyber attack of "unknown origin and cause" that "affected some servers" on its technological platform, the bank's management announced Tuesday.

:

In a statement, the BPC said that as soon as the attack on its technological platform was detected, the banking unit "followed the security protocols provided to protect the integrity of the financial assets of its customers.

And, the Angolan public bank added, "has begun a rigorous investigation into the occurrence.

According to the state bank, which is undergoing restructuring, the attack affected some servers and some of the services provided at branches in its commercial network are temporarily limited.

Alternatively, says BPC, "customers can continue to use their services on a regular basis through the multicaixa network".

Without specifying when the attack took place and the extent of the attack, the banking unit also informs that "all necessary measures have been taken to restore normality in the shortest possible time".
