The shortening of the schedule, decreed as part of the measures to combat the covid-19 pandemic, made life difficult for many Luandans who, due to a lack of transport to get home or to work, were forced to walk to their destinations for several hours.
The government therefore decided to allow public and private urban and interurban public transport from 5 am to 8 pm, keeping the capacity at 50 per cent, during the period of the health fence, until 11.59 pm on 9 August.
"The Ministry of Transport in Coordination with the Provincial Government of Luanda urges operators to guarantee opening hours and availability of transport capacity for users, respecting the strict reinforcement of biosecurity rules in the means," the statement concluded.
