On the 'blacklist' of the tutelage are the websites of the banks BAI, BFA and BPC, the operators Unitel and Movicel, the Ombudsman's Office and INACOM, the telecommunications sector regulator.
The ministry warned that these and other entities that have payment delays run the 'imminent risk' of going offline.
As explained in a statement, cited by Expansão, this domain represents "the Angolan presence on the Internet".
"If your address is part of the following list, it is because it has been detected that your address is in an irregular situation and this is a courtesy statement before the definitive disconnection of the same," warned the tutelage.
The failures have already begun to register: some companies and public entities lost the domain even before regularizing their payment situation, having the site down and without access to email.
According to a source quoted by Expansão, "this situation created a real chaos in the banking world this morning [Friday]. If the domain 'AO', banks are unable to make transfers and other operations that need the site operational".
To have access to the 'AO' domain, the entities have to pay, per year, 8 thousand kwanzas to the National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society. However, many companies have not made this payment.
