João Lourenço, who was speaking this Friday at the inauguration of the new Geological Institute of Angola, in Luanda, emphasized that this is an "extremely important" entity for a country with the geological and mining resources of Angola, being able to provide services to the State and private investors.
The chief executive also pointed out that IGEO has cutting edge technology and qualified staff, mostly young Angolans, serving not only the geological and mining sciences sector, but also the oil, agriculture and civil construction sectors and others.
"We have been pushing by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Petroleum to try to exploit all the resources that Angola has. So far the most exploited resources are oil, gas and diamond, but as we have just seen, in the samples presented, the country has much more ", he stressed.
João Lourenço added that the IGEO "will be useful to investors who need geological information in order to be able to make their investments in the geological and mining area and that information will be collected at this institute that has the capacity to serve all types of customers, state or private investors ".
IGEO, whose first stone was laid in December 2013, has its headquarters in Luanda in the centrality of Kilamba, and two regional centers, in Lubango (province of Huíla) and Saurimo (province of Lunda-Sul).
The Luanda laboratory has the most complete function, focusing on microanalysis. Lubango's, in addition to generic analyzes, has the ability to prepare and analyze ornamental rocks and industrial minerals, while Saurimo's performs geoscientific analyzes.
The laboratories were built and equipped by the Chinese CITIC Construction.
