According to the project leader, Sebastião Silva, this initiative aims to make the Rangel district a greener space, thus ensuring the health and well-being of the residents.

In essence, the idea of this project is "to create conditions for more greenery and less waste in the community," he said.

Cited by Jornal de Angola, Sebastião Silva revealed that from March until now around 1500 trees have been planted on Avenida Brasil, Senado da Câmara, Precol, Bieral and Terra Nova.

The responsible considers that the trees are indispensable to human life, admitting that when you plant a tree "we are protecting our health".

The choice of the type of trees to be placed in each zone depends on the choice of the residents. They can either prefer a tree that bears fruit or one that only gives shade.

However, he revealed that American mulember and acacia trees are the most requested by the residents. However, young people are also planting fig, avocado, orange and mango trees.

Sebastião Silva does not rule out the possibility of the project expanding to other municipalities in the capital, admitting that this step is a challenge.

In addition to the tree planting project, scrap and plastic collection campaigns are also being developed in the Rangel district, with the support of the Obra Bela Foundation.

Sebastião Silva indicated that both the campaigns and the project have the help of several young volunteers, among them several residents.
