Government spends 50,000 kwanzas/day with each citizen in quarantine

The Government spends 50,000 kwanzas per day with each citizen in quarantine, the coordinator of the multisectoral commission to prevent and combat covid-19 announced this Thursday, adding that about 6000 Angolans have already been institutionally quarantined.

According to the also Minister of State and head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, Pedro Sebastião, half of these citizens were in the capital, Luanda, and the average length of stay was 10 to 20 days.

A high cost that will only be around Luanda's three billion kwanzas, not counting what is spent in the provinces, he estimated.

“If we gather all the biosafety material that was acquired, they will be able to see what the Government's effort is so that the country is prepared”, reinforced the Minister of State, adding that in its various items the commission has already spent 43 billion kwanzas, namely in the creation of hundreds of beds and hospital conditions in quarantine and treatment centers, field hospitals, among others.

33 flights were carried out to bring materials, mainly from China, where 27 flights were made, four more to Portugal and two to Qatar and “a series of trucks that transported goods from South Africa to the country”.

Pedro Sebastião said that the members of the multisectoral commission are “permanently tested”, having already carried out four control tests.

Also the people linked to the security of the President of the Republic are periodically tested, having been detected “some cases, in the order of the three dozen positive cases, that do not endanger the institution”, because they are in the “guard away”, the fourth security ring , having taken a set of measures in compliance with health protocols, he said.
