"TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola informs about the transfer of its entire operation from the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda to the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), located in Bom Jesus, province of Icolo and Bengo, starting on September 15, 2025", reads a statement sent to VerAngola.
The flag carrier also says that "this historic milestone is the culmination of a gradual transition process of TAAG's commercial passenger transport service to AIAAN, which began in November 2024, and this new airport infrastructure will now receive the busiest international flights, namely Lisbon, São Paulo, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lagos, Windhoek, São Tomé and Maputo, which join the domestic and regional destinations of Brazzaville and Kinshasa, already based at the new airport".
Quoted in the note, Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira expressed the company's enthusiasm for this transfer: "We are excited about this full and complete transfer of our commercial passenger services to Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport. This change represents a crucial step in our strategy to improve the customer experience and efficiency of our operations, with all logistics and fleet being centralized at AIAAN, which offers many positive synergies."
The company also clarifies that the decision to transfer its international flight operations to the new airport, "follows Executive Decree No. 06/2025, of May 27, and reflects the strategic vision of the Government of Angola, to position Luanda/Icolo and Bengo, as a hub and turntable for people and goods, at the level of the African continent, and North-South and East-West connections, on a global scale".
"With its modern facilities and expanded capacity, AIAAN is prepared to accommodate a growing volume of air traffic, offering users and passengers greater comfort, efficiency of travel processes, control and security, diversity of services, quality of facilities and improved customer service," says the note.
