According to a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, exploration work will begin after two years of prospecting.
"The multinational De Beers will begin, within two weeks, drilling and exploration work in the areas of Muconda and Lumboma, in the provinces of Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte, respectively, after two years of prospecting using aerial means for electromagnetic surveys," the statement reads.
On the occasion, the company's CEO also reported that the multinational "is investing tens of millions of dollars in a long-term project that, as it progresses, will require investing hundreds of millions or billions of dollars, depending on the success of the project."
"This is a substantial investment in Angola and we all hope that we will have the results of the exploration," said Al Cook, quoted in the statement.
The CEO of the multinational said that he "intends to continue working to strengthen the existing cooperation with Angola."
During his visit to Angola, the document says, the official will participate in a roundtable on Natural Diamonds, which will take place this Wednesday in the country's capital.
Regarding the event, he stressed that it will bring together governments of diamond-producing countries on the African continent to discuss "how they can work together to brand natural diamonds and tell the world how beautiful they are."
"The president and I have talked in detail about what we want to achieve by working together and to ensure that we can tell the true story of natural diamonds to audiences around the world," the official also said.
