"Lia Lima and Henrique Mascarenhas will represent Angola in pure swimming at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games", informed the Angolan Swimming Federation, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
Thus, Lia Lima will represent Angola in the butterfly style. The swimmer, according to the federation, "will swim 200 meters butterfly on the 31st of July".
Henrique Mascarenhas will compete in the 100 meter freestyle.
According to Angop, in the last three weeks, Henrique Mascarenhas surpassed Salvador Gordo in the national ranking with two records in the 10 meter freestyle: one of 51.81 in Portugal and another later of 51.78 in Italy.
Lia Lima has stood out on the national scene in recent years and was the only swimmer to win a silver medal in the 200 meter butterfly at the African Absolute Swimming Championship, with a time of 2.20.22.
In addition to the two athletes – who will be accompanied by coach Artur Henrique – Angola will also be represented with a judge, namely Kimbo Kiambata, who participated in last year's Open Water World Championship, held in Japan, writes Angop.
