It was barely 10 minutes into the game, when Angola saw its opponent open the scoring. It was in the 11th minute that Cameroon, through the feet of Bryan Mbeumo, scored their first and only goal in the match.
Until half-time, Angola was unable to equalize, with the draw only coming in the second half of the match. In the 54th minute, the national team equalized with an own goal from Cameroonian Ngadeu, following a shot by Gelson Dala, writes Angop.
The score ended up remaining 1-1 until the final whistle. The basis of the draw were repeated failures in defense and in moves that could result in a goal.
Speaking to the press at the end of the game, Pedro Gonçalves, national coach, said that after the opponent's goal, the national team was unbalanced, in a game with a lot of physical intensity.
Regarding the team's goal, the coach, quoted by Angop, said that although it was an own goal from the opponent, it was the result of pressure applied during that moment of the match.
He also considered that Angola had a good start, despite the result being tied, leaving the promise of continuing the fight for possible qualification.
Cameroon coach Marc Peter Brys expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the match, which he said was difficult due to the pressure exerted by Angola.
It should be noted that the presence of the President of the Republic in the stands at the 'Palancas Negras' game did not go unnoticed. João Lourenço was, this Tuesday, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro supporting the national team.
Along with João Lourenço, entities such as the governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, the Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, among others, were also at the stadium to support the team.
After the draw, the President of the Republic left a message of support for the team. "Angola believed and continues to believe in the strength and determination of its Palancas to make history again, towards the 2026 World Cup. Go ahead, Angola! Angola will win", says the head of state, in a post made on the Facebook page.
Remember that Angola belongs to group D, led by Cameroon with eight points. The Libyan team follows with seven points and Cape Verde also with seven points. Angola is in fourth place with six points.
According to Angop, the country will play again on the 16th of March next year with Libya (fifth round) and on the 23rd with Cape Verde.
