At this moment, equipment is being installed in the aforementioned mine, after environmental and economic analysis, with the aim of then starting the production phase, said the Secretary of State, in statements, cited by Angop, on the sidelines of a conference on investments in the mineral resources, oil and gas sector.
On the occasion, he said that the project is expected to boost the "development of the province and the national economy" and that it will also ensure jobs for young people.
"We hope that this project will give a great boost to the development of the province and the national economy, as well as guaranteeing employment for youth", he said, quoted by Angop.
Jânio Correa Victor also said that in the province there is a probability of carrying out oil and gas prospecting, with the National Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) carrying out prospecting activities in the regional interior basins, as well as he added that in the field of mineral resources, quartz projects are underway in the province, which are already in the production stage.
In prospecting carried out more than 14 years ago, according to Angop, it was discovered that the Mavoio mine – which also includes the Tetelo and Bembe mines – contains more than 40 million tons of pure copper.
At the conference, held in Uíge under the theme "Investment in the mining and oil sector as a lever for economic diversification" and which served to discuss topics such as the country's mining potential, among many others, the presidents of the Boards of Directors of companies under the authority of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, businesspeople, among others, were present.
