On the occasion, the Secretary of State focused on the topic "Program for Development and Modernization of Geological-Mining Activities", having announced that "studies are being prepared on agrominerals, works for the provisional installation and implementation of the Diamond Exchange of Angola, among other projects of great value to the national mining industry", according to a statement from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, to which VerAngola had access.
Regarding the diamond exchange, Jânio Corrêa Victor stated that the aim is to "sell diamonds produced in the country with the highest income, adding value" to the raw material.
In his intervention, the Secretary of State also addressed the sector's priorities, which include "attracting investments from multinationals, supporting the production of ornamental rocks and the construction and implementation of the Ornamental Rocks Development Pole in Namibe by 2026", as well as supporting the cutting and creation of new factories and also strengthening environmental sustainability.
The official also mentioned the gold refinery, which is being built in Viana and which aims to "add value to the gold produced" in the country.
Furthermore, according to a statement from Endiama, to which VerAngola had access, Jânio Corrêa Victor also said that the country "will continue to work to diversify mineral production, with a view to increasing the contribution of this sector to more than two percent in Gross Domestic Product (GDP)".
On the occasion, the person responsible presented the new governance model for the mining sector, considering the "Government's guiding matrix to transform Angola into a more diversified mining country, with the implementation and development of its multiple value chains, supported by a policy of training of national staff, highlighting the involvement of the private sector in business opportunities".
The session took place this Thursday, at the Aníbal de Melo Press Center and the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas Albino, opened the meeting.
