According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access, the agreement was signed last Saturday, on the sidelines of the Annual Robotic Surgery Meeting, which took place between the 20th and 23rd of June, in Orlando, in the United States of America (USA), and where the country was present with a delegation led by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta.
"On the 22nd, on the sidelines of this event, an agreement was signed to acquire robots from the manufacturer Microport, a technology that will be progressively implemented in tertiary level hospitals, with infrastructures prepared to accommodate high complexity", reads the note.
According to the guardianship, in addition to the acquisition of robots, the agreement also provides for the "maintenance of equipment, training of medical nursing teams, electrical medical engineers and other technicians".
With the implementation of robotic surgery, the country will "certainly improve surgical assistance in various specialties, with emphasis on oncology", points out the guardianship.
Remember that in May this year, the Minister of Health announced that the country could soon use robotic surgery technology.
At the meeting held last week in Orlando, the country "actively participated, as a panelist in the training session in which they shared the experience of the specialized training process in Angola, in addition to attending several thematic sessions", the ministry also mentions.
