The international event, an artistic exhibition in the areas of music and performing arts, managed and co-financed by Camões Instituto Português and co-financed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, was launched this Monday, in Luanda.

A total of 13 artists, selected from 50 who participated in the mobility program for artists from Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) and Timor-Leste, will, for four days, share experiences and shows of dance, theater, music and cinema.

The representative of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Maria Amélia Cabral, said that the project aims to support the mobility of artists, "very important" so that they are also known internationally, that they have the opportunity to coexist and be in other spaces for their creations artistic skills, as well as to improve their skills.

Cape Verde is represented in greater numbers with five artists, followed by Mozambique with four and Angola and Guinea-Bissau with two each.

Maria Amélia Cabral said, in her speech, that one of the reasons for choosing Angola for this exhibition was to encourage artists to participate, having noted that the number of applications from Angolans has been low.

In turn, the representative of Camões IP, Ana Ferreira, highlighted that PROCULTURA began in 2019 and ends in 2025, and focuses on training and subsidizing projects in cultural areas, with the aim of "leveraging the cultural sector, mainly in activities that generate income in the PALOP and Timor-Leste".

Artists Kristall África are participating from Angola, who will present a monologue of creative self-initiative, entitled "O Câncer", which provides the public with new perspectives for freeing habits and inhibitions acquired in everyday life, encouraging self-discipline and autonomy in the use of respect for differences.

Another representative from Angola is Renata Torres, who will present the play "DI BANZELO", a reference to spiritual, earthly beings, based on the play "Mwene-Kongo: a mulher da meia-noite".

The shows, between four and five per day, will take place in the Elinga Teatro space, with free entry.

The first edition of the PROCULTURA resident artists exhibition took place in Mindelo, Cape Verde, in October 2022, and featured the participation of ten artists.
