Setúbal wine producers invest again in promotion in Angola seven years later

The Setúbal Peninsula Regional Wine Commission (CVRPS) returned to Angola with a promotional action, seven years later, with a view to keeping the country among its main export destinations and introducing new producers to the market.

Six producers from the region of Setúbal that have not yet established themselves in Angola make their products known and try to do business in a market that faces growing competition from South African and Spanish competitors, a decrease in 'per capita' consumption and a medium-low price per litre.

Andreia Lucas, marketing director at CVRPS, told Lusa that there are producers and brands, some large, very present in the Angolan market.

He highlighted that despite being an unstable market, the relationship with Angola "is very positive" and the country has always remained in the "top 5", behind Brazil, Canada and the United States of America, so "it makes perfect sense" resume promotion.

"We are back to be able to reach the volume we had at the time (2016), which was two million liters exported and it was our first export market, we want to recover this relationship", she pointed out.

The region of the Setúbal peninsula has 170 certified producers and produces around 50 million liters, half of which is for export, with 666,000 bottles reaching the tables of Angolan consumers.

The sales volume of wines from the Setúbal peninsula in Angola stood at 272 million kwanzas, that is, around 350 thousand euros.

Adega Camolas, Adega de Pegões, Bacalhôa, Cadeado Wines, Casa Ermelinda Freitas and Sociedade Vinícola de Palmela are the producers present in this promotion, which ends today and involved contacts with customers and partners, as well as visits to the main distribution channels.
