Beers were the product with the most weight in the industry in 2022

Beer was the product with the highest participation in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Angolan industrial sector in 2022, with a weight of 17 percent, followed by wheat flour with 14 percent, according to official data.

Chemicals (13 percent), soft drinks (9 percent) and pasta (9 percent) are also on the list of the 15 products that most contributed to the sector's GDP in 2022, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The data, shared during the "Dialogue with the Minister" space, indicate that the drinks subsector currently leads the ranking of the sector in terms of production capacity, with 31 percent of industrial GDP in 2022.

Beverages (31 percent), food (28 percent) and chemicals (14 percent) are the top three categories that contributed the most over this period.

The report by the Cabinet for Studies, Planning and Statistics (GEPE) of the ministerial entity also mentions that in the field of industry, in 2022, 1311 new definitive industrial permits were issued and 26,299 new jobs were created.

The new definitive industrial permits amount to a total investment of 4.1 billion kwanzas.

Regarding the actions of the Integrated Program for the Development of Rural Commerce (PIDCR), which encourage the development of rural commerce freight transport operators, by the end of 2022 resulted in the distribution of 327 vans.

According to the document, in 2022, foreign trade recorded a turnover of around US$49.4 billion (EUR 45.9 billion), representing an increase of 36.73 percent compared to the previous year. .

The trade balance represented a surplus of US$16.6 billion. Exports registered a volume of US$33 billion, while imports, in the period, totaled US$16.4 billion.

Creation and implementation of the Integrated Support Program for Micro and Small Industrial Companies and the elaboration of the Census of Industry in Angola are some of the ongoing actions at the level of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
