Country with a maximum of two thousand national observers for the August 24 elections

Angola's National Elections Commission has set a limit of 2,000 national observers for the August 24 elections, who will have up to 30 days before the elections to follow the necessary steps in this process.

:

"For the purposes of recognizing and accrediting National Election Observers, the National Electoral Commission sets a quota of up to 2000 observers", reads article 7 of the Regulation on the Recognition and Accreditation of Election Observers, published on Monday in Republic Diary.

In the text, it is explained that by national observer is understood "the organizations, individuals or national entities, legally recognized to observe the electoral process".

Signed by the president of the National Elections Commission, Manuel Pereira da Silva, the diploma explains that for accreditation it is necessary "to be a national or foreign citizen with experience, reputation and recognized prestige, to have been invited under the law, to be included in the quotas defined by the CNE, in accordance with the law, and accept the indicated observation area".

For Angolans residing abroad, "the exercise of the right to vote observes the following principles: prior consular registration, registration in the electoral roll, ownership and possession of the Identity Card or Passport, responsibility, unit of the general voting day, electoral security and transparency".

In the diploma that was also published on Monday, it is determined that in order to vote "you must be regularly registered as a voter in a specific electoral roll, be the holder of the Identity Card, Voter Card or Angolan Passport and not be covered by active electoral incapacity under the law".

Polling stations will be at diplomatic and consular missions and elections will take place on the same day as the general elections.

The presidential decree calling for the elections came into force on 6 June.

Angola will choose for the fifth time, since 1992, and the fourth consecutive time, since 2008, the President of the Republic and representatives of the National Assembly.
