Angola and Zimbabwe want to document Southern Africa's liberation battles

Angola and Zimbabwe intend to document the battles for the liberation of Southern Africa, in the sense that the present generations are aware of them and the impact caused in the current countries, informed the special envoy of the Zimbabwean President.

Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, special envoy of the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, was received in audience by President João Lourenço, to whom he delivered a letter from his counterpart, the content of which was not advanced.

Speaking to the press, the special envoy of the President of Zimbabwe stressed that the two countries have always worked together and cooperated during the war for the liberation of the southern region.

"And in this context, Angola has always been at the forefront. If we take into account that most of the epic and fiercest battles that took place in the region, whether in the colonial period or in the fight against 'apartheid', took place in Angolan territory ", he stressed.

President Mnangagwa's special envoy also noted that the leaders of the two countries have held regular consultations, to exchange experiences on matters that have to do with the liberation struggles, as well as to identify better ways for the region and the continent to document these battles. .

"This is for the benefit of the present generations, of those who did not participate at that time, so that they can know what happened and what the impact is for the countries we have today", he stressed.
