Egypt interested in building bus factory in Angola

The installation of a bus factory in Angola is part of the plans of Egyptian businessmen. The intention of building the unit in Angolan territory was expressed by the Egyptian business community in an audience with the Transport minister, Ricardo de Abreu, on Wednesday.

:

According to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by Jornal de Angola, the country's business community invited the holder of the Transport portfolio to head to Egypt in order to "see in loco the reality of what they intend to implement in Angola".

If Ricardo de Abreu accepts the invitation, the project – which aims to respond to the needs of the Angolan market as well as other countries in Southern Africa – could come out of the drawer and evolve.

In another audience, the Jornal de Angola reports, the minister of Agriculture and Fisheries asked Egyptian businessmen to determine actions that make investments viable, having mentioned the importance of implementing them on Angolan soil.

It should be noted that the Energya Cables group showed a project aimed at the implementation in the country of structures dedicated to the production of medium and high voltage electrical cables, among others.

In this regard, the Secretary of State for Energy, António da Costa, told businessmen that it would be useful to establish contact with the Agency for Support of Private Investment and Export Promotion (APIEX) and the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE). in the sense of recognizing an area to be implemented, among other aspects.

It is recalled that at the beginning of the week, at the opening of the business forum between the two countries, Domingos Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for the International Cooperation of Communities, said that "it is the intention of the Government of Angola, within the scope of cooperation with Egypt, to strengthen trade relations" and, in this sense, they intend to "take advantage of the strong potential" of industrial engineering, with emphasis on "household appliances, car components, electrical and electronic industries".

Data in the statement, cited by Jornal de Angola, reveal that the average annual value of exports by Egypt's machinery and equipment industry stood at around 6.15 billion dollars between 2016 and 2019, with Angola mirroring 0.01 per percent of total exports last year alone.
