Egypt has already invested more than three billion in Angola. Country maintains interest in new business opportunities

More than 3 billion dollars is the value of the investment made, so far, by Egypt in Angola. However, the Egyptians are still interested in investing in Angola, with a delegation of businesspeople from that country being in Luanda to identify new business opportunities.

Currently, Egypt already has some representation on Angolan soil, with some companies operating in the food, agriculture and infrastructure sectors. According to the Public Television of Angola (TPA), the presence of these Egyptian companies in Angolan territory reflects an investment of over 3 billion dollars in Angola.

However, the interest in continuing to invest in Angola remains. In this sense, the Egyptian delegation that is in Luanda to participate in a business forum is ready to open the purse strings and invest in Angola's various sectors of activity, TPA said.

On the Angola side, the intention is to strengthen relations with Egypt. According to Domingos Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "it is the intention of the Government of Angola, within the scope of cooperation with Egypt, to strengthen trade relations".

"In this sense, we are fully aware that the engineering industry is one of the main drivers of Egypt's foreign industrial trade," he added.

Cited by TPA, the secretary also said that they intend to "take advantage of the strong potential of this industrial engineering, with emphasis on the main export products that include household appliances, car components, electrical and electronic industries to continue our commitment to the diversification of the national economy".

In turn, the Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Nelson Cosme, also quoted by TPA, said that Egypt's exports relative to Angola are low: "Egypt's exports in relation to Angola in this domain represent 0.015 percent, hence their presence, coming here to see if they can develop this industrial sector with the Angolan partners, which I believe is important for the dynamism of the economy".

The Egyptian delegation is made up of representatives of 15 companies from Egypt, willing to establish partnerships, TPA said.

Regarding the forum – which will last three days in the capital – the Egyptian ambassador to Angola, Mohammed Safwat, considered that it "also has as its main objective the capitalization of the exchange of knowledge and the entry of Egyptian experience to the Angolan market and obviously it is the expectation that the Angolan experience also enters the Egyptian market".
