Politics Death of José Eduardo dos Santos

Expenses for the hospitalization of JES are being paid by the Government

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, revealed that the expenses of the internment of the former President, José Eduardo dos Santos, are being paid by the Government.

:

Speaking to journalists, the official - who was this Thursday at the clinic where José Eduardo dos Santos is hospitalized, in Barcelona, to find out about the state of health of the former head of state - did not provide great details about the state of JES, having informed that the costs of hospitalization are being supported by the State.

"The Government will continue, as it has always done in the past, it will continue to assume its responsibilities, including with regard to the costs of patient hospitalization. These responsibilities are what made the President of the Republic mandate us to come on site to talk to the doctors and find out about the patient's health status", he said, confirming that responsibility for the costs "is the Angolan Government".

"He is a former President of the Republic and it means that the Government of the Republic of Angola has increased responsibilities when it comes to situations of this kind and we will continue to assume that responsibility", he added, quoted by Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA).

On the state of health of the former head of state, Téte António only said that he will report to the right person.

"I think these are details that we cannot give. They are usually given by doctors, we limit ourselves to fulfilling a mission given to us by the President of the Republic, which is to come here to find out about the health status of José Eduardo dos Santos", he said, adding that he will "report to those entitled to what we were told by the doctors".

Asked by journalists about the fact that the delegation's presence in Barcelona was intended to turn off the machines, the minister denied it and said that this decision rests with the family.

"When it comes to circumstances like these, the decision is usually made by the family and, on the other hand, we are Africans, we have a certain culture that does not lead to this type of hypothesis", he informed, quoted by TPA.
