The measure, which is part of the "Simplifica" project, publicly presented this Wednesday, establishes that the validity of passports for citizens up to 29 years of age will be increased from five to 10 years. For citizens aged 30 or more, the document will be valid for 15 years.

"Today, as we know, the validity period of the passport is five years. The measure of extending the validity period of the passport will implement the principle of the extended or unlimited validity period of documents," said Pedro Fieti, secretary of the President of the Republic for State Reform, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

In addition to extending the validity period, "Simplifica" will also simplify the process of processing and renewing passports.

With this project, when processing the document, the presentation of a service or school statement will no longer be required and, in the case of male citizens, the presentation of a military declaration will also no longer be required, explained the official, cited by Jornal de Angola.

In relation to the renewal process of this document it will no longer be necessary to present the original document or a copy, he said, clarifying that it is assumed that the data are already in the system.

In case of loss, it is no longer necessary to present a police statement, reports Jornal de Angola.
