Luz Banco Alimentar is distributing, between May and June, about six hundred thousand meals to several neighborhoods, communities and homes for children and the elderly with the support of Angoalissar, an Angolan company that operates in the area of food distribution. Besides donating part of the distributed goods, this company supports this initiative with the direct involvement of its employees, who made themselves available to participate in the packaging and delivery of the finalized food baskets.
In total, these six hundred thousand meals will contribute to improve the daily diet of thousands of families and fight malnutrition in many others, especially in a period when the COVID-19 pandemic has caused unemployment to skyrocket in Angola and the lack of financial resources is notorious among families.
For the President of Luz Banco Alimentar, Hiba Nesr, being able to carry out this project in Angola means going a long way towards the social welfare of Angolan families. "Witnessing in our own name the impact of the donations made in the places and to the people where they are most needed is very gratifying and a strong lever for us to continue to develop actions of this nature and to continue helping those who need it most," she stresses.
The same responsible recalls that this action is part of the "One Hundred Million Meals" campaign, created by the Global Initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Foundation, based in the United Arab Emirates, which aims to combat hunger and malnutrition worldwide. Hiba Nesr emphasizes that Luz Banco Alimentar is "extremely grateful to this organization for having entrusted it with the materialization of the campaign also in Angola, a country whose neediest population needs to be widely supported in these most difficult times."
Recall that Luz Banco Alimentar is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that has been operating in Angola since 2016. Its mission is to distribute food to the most needy and, at the same time, combat food waste. To materialize this it actively collaborates with local authorities, as well as with several international charities and with solid and strategic business partners, so that the impact of its actions produces good results in the communities where they are implemented.
