Covid-19: Angola registers 85 new cases and five deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 85 new infections, five deaths and 77 recoveries from the disease, adding the country, with data from the last 24 hours, to 36,790 positive cases, of which 836 deaths, informed the authorities.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, cases were reported in the provinces of Luanda (52), Huambo (14), Huíla (10), Namibe (4), Bié (2), Malanje (2 ) and Lunda Sul (1), 45 males and 40 females, aged between 9 months and 69 years.

Three deaths were registered in Luanda, one in Huambo and one in Huíla, aged between 21 and 72 years, four men and one woman.
The recoveries from the disease, which now total 30,359, were mostly in Luanda (37), followed by Huambo (20), Huíla (14), Bié (4) and Malanje (2), from 7 months to 78 years.

The country has 5595 active cases, of which 10 are in critical condition, 37 are severe, 91 are moderate, 17 are mild and 5540 are asymptomatic, with 156 patients in hospital throughout the country, 134 people are in institutional quarantine and 2354 contacts are under epidemiological surveillance.

Franco Mufinda carried out a comparison of the last two weeks, with the aim of understanding the behavior of the disease in the country.
In the week of May 31 to June 7, 1303 cases were reported, and in the week between June 7 and 14, 936 cases were recorded, representing 367 fewer infected.

"As for deaths, in the same period, from May 31 to June 7, we recorded 34 deaths, while from June 7 to 14, there were 36 deaths", in a difference of two deaths, he indicated.

The Secretary of State for Public Health added that in the first week 1250 recoveries were reported, while the second had 953 recovered from the disease, a negative difference of 297 recoveries.

"As for the moving average, which are the weekly cases, we can observe that the week from May 31st to June 7th had more cases, there were 201, while the week from June 7th to 14th had only 133 cases. clearly there is a reduction in new weekly cases," he said.

In the past 24 hours, laboratories have processed 1073 samples by RT-PCR, with a daily positivity rate of 7.9 percent, with the cumulatives pointing to 616,246 samples processed to date, with a cumulative positivity rate of 6 percent.

In the chapter of vaccination, 27,569 doses were administered, being 18,620 of the first dose and 8949 of the second, adding from 2 March, the beginning of the vaccination program in Angola, to date, 1,339,989 doses, of which 837,689 for the first dose and 502,300 of the second dose.

At the entrances and exits of Luanda, 312 people were tested in the last 24 hours, and no positive cases were detected.

At Luanda's international airport, with regard to post-disembarkation tests for travelers from abroad, 53,905 people have been tested since last January, 39,898 men and 14,007 women.

"From this number, we found 113 travelers who tested positive on the basis of the antigen, 81 males and 32 females", said Franco Mufinda, calling for the fulfillment of individual and collective protection measures guided by the health authorities, which must also be observed. by people already vaccinated.
