Magda Cazanga, currently playing at Balonmano Salud Tenerife in Spain, has caught the attention of the coaches of the Ibeldroa League - the main senior Spanish women's handball championship.
The full-back, who played at Petro de Luanda, was transferred to the Spanish league at the end of last year. About half a year after arriving in Spain, the athlete was nominated for the "best handball defender" award, which will compete with the Spaniards Laura Hernandez and Giulia Guarieiro.
"It's to be praised and thanked for my nomination, just to be running, I already feel amazed. I've only been here seven months and I'm glad that the Spaniards think I'm a good defender," he said, quoted by Platinaline.
"Many wingers here started the season from the beginning, and since I've been here recently, I'm already happy and excited," he added.
According to the same newspaper, Magda Cazanga is one of the first athletes of her team to be nominated for this award.
Remember that the Angolan played less time than the other competitors to the prize, having participated in only eight games before the championship was interrupted because of covid-19. In those games she scored more than 50 goals, seven of which were scored in her debut with Balonmano Salud Tenerife.
This is Magda Cazanga's first experience abroad after playing for 16 years at Petro de Luanda. He has already won the CAF Champions Cup, the Cup Winners' Cup and the Babakar Fall Super Cup.
According to Opaís newspaper, Magda Cazanga has already renewed her contract with the team and as such will wear the Balonmano Salud Tenerife jersey for another year.
The vote for the best lateral award is being made through the digital platforms - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
