Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, who was speaking this Monday at the inauguration ceremony of the ANRM board of directors, said that the newly created body emanates from a commitment made by the current government with the purpose of "improving the investment climate in the sector".

"This meant adopting a new model of governance of the sector, more efficient and transparent. This model, already approved, is led by the holder of executive power, whose tutelage falls to the Ministry", he said.

Jacinto Rocha leads the ANRM board of directors, which was sworn in this Monday by Minister Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, who also has four executive directors, namely Djanira dos Santos, João Chimuco, Lukombo Pedro and Moisés David.

For the Minister, the inauguration of this new body of the sector that he directs "will come to solidify the constant dialogue with the business community and the main agents involved in this economic activity".

The National Agency of Mineral Resources is responsible, among others, for the regulation of the mining sector, exercising its attributions on mineral resources in the national territory, with the exception of hydrocarbons.

The President of ANRM, Jacinto Rocha, 54, has been living in South Africa for many years, with a PhD in Law from the University of Pretoria and a Masters in Business Administration and a post-graduate degree in Mining Engineering.

According to the governor, his appointment stems from an orientation of the President, João Lourenço, on the need for "Angolan cadres in the diaspora not to be forgotten and deserve greater attention for the country's development".

"For this, my special thanks to the president of ANRM, for having followed the challenge above and accepted the invitation to return to the homeland and exercise this function of high responsibility," he said.

To all the members of the board of directors of the National Agency for Mineral Resources, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo noted that the trust placed "was only in consideration" to his "technical knowledge and experience based on professional merit".
