According to the presidential order, cited by Jornal de Angola, the contract will be the responsibility of the Mitreli Group company and the latter will be supervised by the director of the Special Works Office.

Lucas Quilundo, spokesman for CNE, revealed that this new space will allow the commission to integrate several services that were previously done outside the current surroundings of the commission. He also made it known that the new headquarters will be built on the site of an old soft drink factory, in the neighborhood of Coqueiros, near the Coqueiros stadium.

Since the expenditure - budgeted at 44,173,750 dollars - has already been approved, Lucas Quilundo admits that the work will begin in the near future and that it will be completed within a one-and-a-half year time horizon, emphasizing that the objective is to have the infrastructure completed before the general elections, scheduled for 2022.

The CNE spokesman considered that this new building will bring several advantages to the state, such as saving money. As he explained, until then the CNE had to rent the Talatona Convention Centre to carry out some work related to data processing. However, this new building will already have its own space for these works, thus avoiding that another space is rented.

Still according to the person in charge, the current headquarters, located at Rua Amílcar Cabral, near Largo da Maianga, belongs to the CNE, but due to the nature of the institution's functions, it turns out to be inappropriate. "It is embarrassing that the CNE is living in its headquarters with other entities, such as bank branches, offices of various entities, both public and private, and with residential areas," said the head of the CNE's current headquarters.

In addition to the headquarters, a National Scrutiny Center will also be built, he completed.
