The six cases "under study", i.e. whose form of transmission is being investigated by the health authorities, are four women aged between 28 and 52 and one man aged 39, all resident in the province of Luanda.

There are also two cases of local transmission, 37 and 42-year-old males, also living in Luanda.

Three days ago, the Government had announced another four cases with an epidemiological link "under study". The results of this investigation have not yet been revealed.

The number of infected people thus rises to 197, of which 193 in Luanda and four in Kwanza Norte, with 10 deaths, 77 recovered and 110 active.

Franco Mufinda said that 294 samples were processed in the last 24 hours and more than 22 thousand samples were collected.

More than 1,000 people are in institutional quarantine and the contacts under investigation amount to 1359 people.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 477 000 lives and infected more than 9.2 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 8619 confirmed deaths in more than 324,500 infected in 54 countries, according to the latest pandemic statistics on the continent.
