Covid-19: Angola rises to a dozen deaths. There are 186 infected

The number of deaths due to the new coronavirus has risen to 10 in Angola, where there have been three new cases, including one death, bringing infections to a total of 186, the Health Minister said on Monday.

According to Silvia Lutucuta, the new cases of infection are three people between the ages of 2 and 66, two male and one female.

A 66-year-old woman, who was admitted to the Central Military Hospital with worsening respiratory condition on Sunday, died three hours later and tested positive for the new coronavirus.

The two-year-old child was asymptomatic in a 36-year-old case with moderate symptoms, revealed the official source.

Angola thus has 186 cases of covid-19, of which 10 deaths, 77 recovered and 99 active cases.

Among the cases of infection, 57 were imported, 120 are of local transmission and nine have unknown epidemiological links.

So far, 20,140 crops have been harvested and 740 people are in institutional quarantine.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed over 468,000 lives and infected almost 9 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 8115 confirmed deaths in more than 306,000 infected in 54 countries, according to the latest pandemic statistics on the continent.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
