The first infected outside the capital will have violated the health fence imposed on the province of Luanda, being an Angolan and two citizens from West Africa.
According to Maria Filomena Wilson, director of the Provincial Health Office, the patients are male, aged between 34 and 58 years, one of whom inspires special care for having other associated chronic diseases.
The provincial body added that it is adopting the necessary measures for the management and monitoring of those infected. According to Jornal de Angola, patients are awaiting transfer to the field hospital installed in the Detachment of the Fire Brigade of Morro do Binda, on the outskirts of the city of Ndalatando.
Locally, and since April, routine tests have been carried out on suspicious cases that resulted in the collection of 191 samples, 39 of which were negative and three positive. The rest are being processed at the central laboratory, in Luanda.
The official also guaranteed a reinforcement of the medical teams in the province, for the follow-up of positive cases and the realization of new testing rounds. Thus, he said that the local authorities asked the Ministry of Health for authorization so that the province can be autonomous in carrying out tests on the covid-19.
Currently, Cuanza Norte has a quarantine center installed at Comandante Ngueto Airport, with a capacity of 30 beds, and a field hospital equipped with 40 beds for internment.
Angola has 148 positive cases of covid-19, six killed, 78 active and 647 recovered. On Tuesday, Cuanza Norte became the second province to record positive cases, after Luanda.
