Franco Mufinda said the other three cases, of local transmission, are confined to the Hoji-Ya-Henda health fence.

The ruler said the first three cases in Kwanza Norte concerned two West African citizens and one Angolan, who broke through Luanda's health fence.

"Regarding the province of Kwanza Norte, we are preparing a multidisciplinary team to follow up on case management, especially epidemiological surveillance," he said.

According to Franco Mufinda, this process will require a study of the epidemiological link, which has already begun and will be complemented by the team of the Ministry of Health, composed of senior technicians.

One of the patients in Kwanza Norte, reported Franco Mufinda, "inspires care" for presenting other diseases.

At this time, Angola has a total of 148 cases, of which six deaths, 64 recovered and 78 assets.

To date, 15,183 samples have been taken, 148 of which are positive and 14,433 negative, while 655 are being processed.

Local transmissions have already reached 83 cases, with imports from Russia accounting for 53 per cent, while Portugal accounts for 38 per cent.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 436,000 lives and infected more than eight million people in 196 African countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

Among the African countries that have Portuguese as their official language, Equatorial Guinea leads in number of infections and deaths (1664 cases and 32 deaths), followed by Guinea-Bissau (1492 cases and 15 deaths), Cape Verde (782 cases and seven deaths), São Tomé and Príncipe (671 cases and 12 deaths), Mozambique (638 cases and four deaths) and Angola (148 infected and six deaths).
