Savings and Credit Bank announces closure of more than 100 branches

The provinces of Luanda, Cunene, Cuanza Sul, Benguela, Huíla, Namibe, Cuando Cubango, Malanje, Uíge, Cabinda, Lunda Sul, Moxico and Bengo will lose branches of the Savings and Credit Bank (BPC).

BPC announced the closure, as of July 13, of 106 branches and service stations throughout the country, as part of its resizing program.

The information was provided by Angop, who says that the province of Luanda leads the list of closures with 22 branches / service stations and transfer agencies.

In the context of these closures, the bank expects to employ more than 1600 workers, figures that are part of the recapitalization and restructuring program.

The BPC management has pledged an amount of around 18 billion kwanzas to compensate employees - according to the Labor Law - plus a premium.

The State is the largest shareholder in the Bank of Savings and Credit, with a capital of 75 percent. The bank has the largest number of service stations in the country, with 300.
