Wanting a “fairer and more transparent” proposal, inDrive’s model is already found in several major cities around the world, allowing drivers to choose the trips they prefer, while passengers can get more economical trips at fixed prices from the start.
With the inDrive app, passengers need to enter their departure and destination locations and propose a price for the trip. Verified drivers nearby can accept the proposed price, make a counteroffer, or simply decline the trip – without any penalty.
The system considers important trip factors – such as price, car type, expected arrival time and driver ratings – to ensure a fair and transparent experience, the platform says, in a statement sent to VerAngola.
Once the price is agreed, it is fixed before the start of the trip, with no surprises due to increased demand or changes in the route.
As a way of entering Angolan territory, inDrive launched a zero commission policy for drivers in Luanda. In other words, drivers receive the full cost of the trip.
While a commission could be introduced in the future, inDrive says it remains “committed to ensuring drivers earn significantly more than on other ride-hailing platforms.”
Ashif Black, inDrive’s Business Development Representative in Africa, highlighted the impact of the launch in Angola: “The Angolan market is hungry for a fairer and more innovative approach to transportation services. Our unique fare negotiation model gives the power back to drivers and passengers, allowing them to set fair and flexible prices, rather than relying on an algorithm.”
He also mentioned that the zero-commission benefit aims to “address industry challenges” while creating a more rewarding experience for everyone involved.
