In what was the fifth play-off game of the final of the National Senior Men's Basketball Championship (Unitel Basket), which is played over the best of seven matches, Petro de Luanda was already in the lead at half-time.
The 'petrolíferos' went into the break with a seven-point lead (50-43).
In the end, Petro de Luanda managed to reach three figures, having scored a total of 105 points against their opponent's 75, thus winning the national championship title for the sixth consecutive time.
"With an impressive 105-75 victory against 1.º de Agosto, Petro de Luanda became the sixth national champion, adding the 6th title in Unitel Basket", said the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB), in a note to which VerAngola had access.
According to the federation, Aboubakar Gakou "shone" in the championship.
"The tricolor athlete shone at Unitel Basket: best percentage of three-point shots; best percentage of two-point shots; elected to the ideal five; and MVP of the final", points out the FAB.
"Aboubakar Gakou was decisive in Petro de Luanda's journey towards the sixth championship, leaving his mark as a leader, scorer and symbol of excellence", it adds.
According to Angop, with this achievement, Petro secures a place in the sixth edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
