In his message of congratulations, shared in the Angolan Presidency's Facebook account, João Lourenço highlighted the importance of Luís Montenegro's continuity at the head of the Portuguese government to strengthen bilateral relations, which will allow "the narrowing of friendship bonds that unite Angola and Portugal, outline new perspectives on bilateral cooperation."
The president concluded the message by increasing Montenegro “many successes” in the performance of his duties.
AD - PSD/CDS coalition won the Portuguese legislative elections on Sunday, with 89 deputies, if the three elected by the AD coalition with PPM in the Azores, while the PS parties and arrive tied in the number of elected to Parliament, 58.
The liberal initiative remains the fourth political force, with another deputy (9) than in 2024, and the fifth place is from Livre, which went from four to six elected.
The CDU lost an elected and was with three parliamentarians, while the left block is reduced to a representative, and the PAN kept a deputy.
Madeira's JPP managed to elect a deputy.
These results do not include voters resident abroad, whose participation and choices will be known on May 28.
