Chivukuvuku elected first president of PRA-JA with over 90 percent of the votes

Candidate Abel Chivukuvuku was elected, in Luanda, the first president of PRA-JA Servir Angola, with 661 votes out of a total of 675 voters, at the constituent congress of this political party legalized in 2024.

Abel Chivukuvuku ran for party leadership on Monday with Francisco Nkanga, who received just 11 votes.

The announced election results indicate a total of 675 votes, with 672 valid, two void and one blank.

The elected president of PRA-JA Servir Angola was a former member of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) and former president of the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola – Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), from which he was removed in 2019.

PRA-JA Servir Angola was presented to society in 2019, and the legalization process went through several rejections by the Constitutional Court until its legalization in October 2024.

The first PRA-JA Servir Angola congress, which runs until Thursday, has the participation of more than 750 delegates.

The schedule for the second day of work includes the inauguration of the president and vice presidents-elect, as well as the president's assistants, the committee of senior advisors to the president, members of the vice presidents' offices and the announcement of the party president's guidelines.

After the inauguration ceremony, work continues with the formation of the Political, Administrative, Financial and Patrimonial Affairs committees.
