At the central station, employees at the counter separate some envelopes that will join the hundreds that are distributed by baskets classified from A to Z, waiting for their recipients to seek them before May 14, the deadline to survey the postal vote.
Postal vote and face -to -face vote are the two possible modalities for Portuguese citizens registered abroad to exercise their voting rights, but to vote in person this option would have to be made with the respective census committee, until the date of marking the election.
Information on the legislative elections is available on the Portuguese Consulate website and the Post Office of Angola announced the provision of a special service service to support the exercise of voting rights to the Portuguese community, extending the period of operation from Monday to Saturday, between 08h00 and 18h00, and on Sundays until 12:30.
“We appeal to the massive adhesion of the Portuguese citizens during the period from May 10 to 14, 2025, an essential phase for the collection and sending of the votes,” the Post Office appeals, guiding citizens who do not receive their home voting reports to one of the 21 stations indicated to collect them.
However, the Portuguese are not moving massively, as a post office employee admitted to Lusa.
Outstanded addresses, ignorance, overlapping of the postcards of the postcards with the work period or difficulties in finding the address are some of the explanations that advanced to the fact that many of the bulletins eventually stored in 21 stations across the country, instead of reaching the home of the recipients.
On the other hand, there is also the habit of “leaving everything to the last time”, so in the coming days there may be more demand, the same employee added, indicating that they have been received so far about 6000 bulletins.
The voter portal also provides the possibility of monitoring the route of the letter with the voting report sent by the Electoral Administration, through the civil identification number and date of birth.
Angola registered voters should confirm whether the census contains the Luanda or Benguela Electoral Notebooks and confirm the attributed voting modality.
More than 10.8 million voters resident in Portugal and abroad will be called to vote in the legislative elections scheduled for May 18, where 20 political forces compete, to fill the 230 places of deputies of the Assembly of the Republic in the next legislature.
