At the opening of the proceedings, Abel Chivukuvuku, one of the candidates for the party leadership, spoke as general coordinator of PRA-JA Servir Angola, who is competing with Francisco Nkanga for the same position.
The first president of PRA-JA Servir Angola should be elected this Monday so that the congress work can take place under the command of the first leader of this political force, legalized in October 2024, after a long process that began in 2019 and was marked by several rejections by the Constitutional Court.
Several national and international parties were invited to the opening ceremony of the congress. From Mozambique, New Democracy and the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) will be represented, and from neighboring Namibia, the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM). Representatives of the MPLA, UNITA, Democratic Bloc, PRS, FNLA and Humanist Party of Angola will also be present, as well as diplomatic representatives and individuals from civil society.
The first PRA-JA Servir congress has the participation of more than 750 delegates from all over the country and the diaspora, from Portugal, Belgium, Spain, United Kingdom, Brazil, South Africa, Germany, United States. The congress takes place under the motto: “Institutionalize and Strengthen to be Government in 2027”.
The program includes the presentation of the report of the subcommittee on mandates, and the election is scheduled for the afternoon.
The election of the National Political Committee is scheduled for Wednesday and the first meeting of this committee should take place on Thursday, the day on which its secretaries and the National Executive Committee, appointed by the president, will take office, and the election and inauguration of the general secretary of PRA-JA Servir Angola should also take place.
On that day, the Guidelines for the Materialization of the 2026-2027 Strategic Plan will be presented.
