"The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, delivered 62 basic and advanced life support ambulances this Wednesday, May 28, to reinforce the referral and counter-referral of patients in emergency situations in the country's 21 provinces", the Ministry of Health reported in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
On the occasion, the Minister of Health stated that these new vehicles "will guarantee safe and timely transport to better provide health care".
"More than 300 ambulances were purchased at the end of last year, 200 of which were basic support vehicles and 100 advanced support vehicles, in addition to some support vehicles", the Minister added, quoted in the note.
According to the Ministry, the beneficiary entities are the National Institute of Medical Emergencies, national institutes, provincial hospitals and national hospitals.
Seven ambulances sent to Luanda
This action brought seven new ambulances to the capital. According to a statement from the government of the province of Luanda, to which VerAngola had access, "the health sector in the province of Luanda now has seven new ambulances, delivered by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, as part of the reinforcement of the means of responding to medical emergencies and improving health care for the population".
On the occasion, the director of the provincial health office, Manuel Duarte Varela, highlighted the "importance of this reinforcement for the mobility of patients between the different health units in the province".
According to the official, "the new ambulances will allow for more efficient coverage in the transport of patients at the various levels of health, contributing to responding to medical emergencies in a permanent and faster manner", the note reads.
