National Health System strengthened with seven new ambulances donated by South Korea

South Korea donated a total of seven ambulances to Angola. The resources were delivered, this Friday, by the ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Angola, Kwang-Jin Choi, in a ceremony where the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, thanked him for the gesture and made a “commitment to taking good care of this resource”.

According to the Minister of Health, these new ambulances "represent much more than vehicles, they are instruments of hope, dignity and care".

"These ambulances arrived at the right time. Our health system faces daily challenges, and we know how vital adequate and agile transport is to saving lives. Each of these ambulances will be used responsibly and with dedication, ensuring that those who need it most receive fast, quality care", said Sílvia Lutucuta.

On the occasion, the Minister emphasized that "this donation is an inspiring example of solidarity and social responsibility", adding: "You have demonstrated that investing in caring for others is not just an act of kindness, but a duty that strengthens society as a whole".

Considering that "this gift will be an additional tool" so that the health teams that "tirelessly dedicate themselves to helping" the population continue to "perform their role with excellence", the Minister stressed that this "is not only a moment of gratitude, but also of commitment".

"The commitment to take good care of this resource that we have received. The commitment to redouble our efforts to improve healthcare in our society. The commitment to honour the trust placed in us", she added.

Sílvia Lutucuta said that the Angolan and South Korean governments have been developing "cooperation actions in the health area, with some regularity", recalling that in April of this year they signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Angola and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea on Cooperation in the Health Field.

The Minister of Health concluded by expressing "deep gratitude to the Government and people of the Republic of Korea for this gesture of solidarity towards the Angolan people", hoping that the "gesture will be a milestone in strengthening existing cooperation" and that they can "continue to work together for a more just and welcoming society".

The Korean ambassador said that the "donation of ambulances costing 400,000 dollars is a direct result of the memorandum of understanding in the health sector". Quoted by Jornal de Angola, he added that they only symbolize "a small fraction of the growing collaboration between the two countries in this sector".
