According to a statement from the Executive to which VerAngola had access, the expenditure for these health infrastructures was authorized by the President of the Republic, in a Presidential Order dated May 8.
The document states that the contracts are part of the portfolio of structural projects foreseen in the budget of the government of the province of Bié, in alignment with the National Development Plan 2023-2027.
The public works for the rehabilitation of the Bié Provincial Hospital will cost 4.5 billion kwanzas and the construction of the Andulo Municipal Hospital 1.8 billion kwanzas.
The Government states that this municipality needs a hospital “to meet the population’s need for more and better health services”.
The order determines that it is up to the governor of Bié to approve the parts of the procedure, as well as to verify the validity and legality of all acts carried out, including the conclusion and signing of contracts.
