Cholera killed 566 people and surpassed 17,000 cases in 2025

Cholera continues to spread in the country, with 267 new cases and three deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, totaling 17,528 cases and 566 deaths since the start of the epidemic on January 7, health authorities announced.

According to the Ministry of Health's epidemiological bulletin, the country recorded a total of 267 new cases in the last 24 hours, mostly in the province of Benguela (101), with the region being the new epicentre of the disease.

Since the start of the epidemic, a cumulative total of 17,258 cases have been reported, with 5,820 in Luanda, Benguela (3,670), Bengo (2,951), Cuanza Norte (1,871), Icolo and Bengo (1,093), Malanje (823), Cuanza Sul (404), Namibe (207), Cabinda (150), Huíla (103), Zaire (84), Huambo (40), Cubango (23), Uíje (15), Bié (02) and Cunene and Lunda Sul with one case each.

Cholera, which is spreading in 17 of the country's 21 provinces, has already killed 566 people.

At least 262 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours and another 710 are currently hospitalized with the disease.
