Inflation falls for fifth consecutive month to 22.32 percent in April

The National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) in Angola stood at 22.32 percent year-on-year in April, the lowest level since January 2024, having also registered the fifth consecutive monthly decline.

Comparing the current variation with that recorded in the same month, there was a decrease of 5.89 percentage points, according to data released this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics.

Statistical data also show a 1.34 percent drop in inflation between March and April, the fifth consecutive monthly drop.

During the month of April 2025, the provinces that recorded the lowest variation in prices were Luanda with 1.10 percent, Malange with 1.23 percent, Huambo and Namibe with 1.31 percent each, while Cabinda with 1.91 percent, Cuanza Norte with 1.90 percent and Huila with 1.81 percent were on the opposite side.

The “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” class was the one that registered the biggest price increase in monthly terms, with a variation of 1.94 percent.

Also noteworthy were the price increases seen in the “Clothing and footwear” classes with 1.80 percent, “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 1.65 percent and “Health” with 1.56 percent, and of the twelve consumption classes that make up the IPCN, nine presented rates above unity.
